Featuring vocals by Death Angel/Kerry King legend Mark Osegueda. Below is fan-shot video of both concerts. As part of their most recent EP, “A Handful Of Nuggs,” Primus released their rendition of the aforementioned Dio classic in May of this year, including vocals from Puddles Pity Party.

In 1984, the American rock group Primus was founded in El Sobrante, California. The band’s members as of 2026 are drummer John “Hoffer” Hoffman, guitarist Larry “Ler” LaLonde, and bassist/vocalist Les Claypool. Claypool, guitarist Todd Huth, and drummer Jay Lane joined Primus in 1984; however, the latter two left in 1989 and were replaced by LaLonde and Tim “Herb” Alexander, respectively. The live album “Suck on This”, which was self-released in 1989 on Claypool’s label Prawn Song and reissued a year later by Caroline Records, marked the debut of the “classic” lineup of Claypool, LaLonde, and Alexander. Additionally, Caroline published Primus‘ 1990 debut studio album Frizzle Fry, which earned positive reviews from critics and attracted interest from big record labels due to its underground success.
With the help of their charting single “Jerry Was a Race Car Driver” and platinum certification within ten years of its release, the band’s second album and major-label debut, “Sailing the Seas of Cheese” (1991), released thru Interscope Records, catapulted them into the public eye. With their subsequent two albums, “Pork Soda” (1993) and “Tales from the Punchbowl” (1995), which both peaked in the top ten on the Billboard 200 and received platinum and gold certifications from the RIAA, respectively, Primus replicated their success. The lead single “Wynona’s Big Brown Beaver” from “Tales from the Punchbowl” is the band’s only song to chart outside of North America, although “My Name Is Mud” from “Pork Soda” was the band’s top ten smash on the Billboard rock chart.
