Priest, featuring former band members of Ghost, put their documentary on hold

As we reported two months ago, the Swedish dark 80s style synth-pop band Priest, which partly consists of former band members of the Swedish rock heavyweights Ghost, were working on a documentary, entitled “DECODED: A Priest Doc”. The documentary was also accompanied by a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo, but now Priest and Artax Film, the Swedish film production company behind “DECODED: A Priest Doc”, announce that the documentary is put on hold until further notice:

“Dear Decoded supporters, It is with heavy hearts we have to inform you that the making of Decoded will be put on hold. The promise that the movie will be made is still there, but a release in early 2026 is simply not realistic. To keep your money on hold would also not be fair, you will of course be refunded – but there will be another campaign in the future so feel free to hold on to them until then! Priest will focus on recording new music, touring and making videos alongside with rebooting the whole project. These phases will still be filmed and likely to be in the documentary later on. Artax Film will embark on other exciting projects as well, so make sure to follow on social media to see what’s going on. To all of you – thank you for your support! ..and have patience – Decoded will happen when the time is right!”

Priest just completed their latest US tour a few days ago, alongside Vampires Everywhere! and Julien-K. On this tour, they faced some obstacles, starting with their kick-off show at the legendary “Whisky A Go Go” in Los Angeles being cancelled, due to the raging wildfires in Los Angeles in January 2025. Fortunately, it was possible to reschedule and play the show at the end of the same month. The plans to record the show at “Whisky A Go Go” for “a potential live album” could apparently also be realised. Furthermore, there were problems with the touring vehicles. First, Julien-K reported that their “vehicle transmission blew” and later updated that “we got a local friend to help us out for some transpo for Priest today, and we have a very VERY expensive solution for completing the tour”, mentioning a “$7000+ hole”. A few days later, the touring vehicle of Vampires Everywhere! “also had a dangerous catastrophic failure”. It was said that “all the guys are OK and the vehicle is back in action”, but that “they will not be able to make the show” in Las Vegas, where Priest and Julien-K then performed without Vampires Everywhere!.
