Orgy withdraw from the remainder of the tour with Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson

Platinum-certified industrial rock outfit Orgy were forced to pull out of opening duties for the final date(s) of this year’s ‘Freaks On Parade Tour’, as per theprp. Announcing the sudden exit on September 20, the band dropped off the closing leg of the high-profile summer run, which featured a co-headlining bill of Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson alongside direct support from Mongolian folk metal group The HU.

I want to let everyone know that Orgy has made the difficult decision to step away from the remaining dates of the RZ/MM tour. Circumstances arose that made continuing no longer workable for us, and although I’m not able to discuss the details, this was not a decision we made lightly.

I’m grateful to everyone who supported us and came out to the shows. We have tremendous respect for the all the bands, fans, musicians, and hardworking crews involved, and we look forward to sharing what’s next for Orgy very soon via new music and shows.

Formed in 1997 by vocalist Jay Gordon alongside guitarists Amir Derakh and Ryan Shuck, industrial rock outfit Orgy was quickly rounded out by bassist Paige Haley and drummer Bobby Hewitt. The members brought notable background experience to the new venture: Derakh had achieved success with ’80s metal act Rough Cutt, Hewitt was previously in Electric Love Hogs, and Gordon had briefly played bass for Deadsy alongside frontman Elijah Blue Allman. Gordon and Derakh also held solid production credentials, having helmed Coal Chamber‘s self-titled debut album.

The name Orgy was chosen not as a literal sexual reference, but as a nod to their eclectic blend of musical styles—with late Crazy Town frontman Shifty Shellshock noting the idea stemmed from a 1-800 TV commercial. Later in 1997, Korn frontman Jonathan Davis, who had previously played with Shuck in the band Sexart, signed Orgy as the inaugural act on Elementree Records, Korn‘s imprint distributed via Reprise Records.
