Marilyn Manson is an American rock musician renowned for his role as the lead vocalist and the sole remaining original member of the band that bears his name, which he established in 1989. The band members initially devised their stage personas by amalgamating the first name of the iconic American sex symbol, Marilyn Monroe, with the surname of the notorious criminal and cult leader, Charles Manson.

During the 1990s, the band released several influential albums, including “Portrait of an American Family” (1994), “Antichrist Superstar” (1996), and “Mechanical Animals” (1998). These works featured notable singles such as “The Beautiful People,” “Tourniquet,” “The Dope Show,” and “Rock Is Dead.“

The band’s 2000 release, “Holy Wood (In the Shadow of the Valley of Death),” serves as a critique of mainstream media, which had sought to implicate Manson in the actions of the Columbine High School massacre perpetrators.

Three of the band’s albums have achieved platinum certification, while an additional three have attained gold status. Furthermore, they have secured eight top-ten albums and two number-one albums on the Billboard 200 chart.

Manson has been recognized as the 44th greatest heavy metal vocalist by Hit Parader and, alongside his band, has received five nominations for Grammy Awards.
