American progressive black metal duo Obsidian Tongue is gearing up to drop their fourth full-length album, “Eclipsing Worlds of Scorn,” on May 30th via Profound Lore Records. To give fans a taste of what’s to come, the band has just released a brand-new single, “To Forgive Oneself,” which you can check out below or stream across all major platforms.

Since 2009, Obsidian Tongue has been carving out a solid artistic path, often hailed as one of the best-kept secrets in the USBM scene. Their debut album, “Subradiant Architecture,” along with its follow-up, “A Nest of Ravens in the Throat of Time,” earned them widespread recognition. By the time they dropped “Volume III” in 2020, their reputation was firmly cemented—though pandemic-related chaos threw a wrench into their touring plans.

Now, the band is ready to take things even further. Recorded entirely analog at Mystic Valley Studios, “Eclipsing Worlds of Scorn” promises a dive deeper into a raw, organic form of progressive black metal.

The album opens with a crushing one-two punch: “Orphaned Spiritual Warrior” and “Snakeskin Tunnel Colony,” before culminating in the epic closer, “Theater of Smoke & Wind.”
