Members Chris Cerulli, who played lead vocals and guitar, Angelo Parente, who played drums, Frank Polumbo, who played guitar, and Kyle White, who played bass during high school, formed Motionless in White in the summer of 2004. The band was called One Way Ticket for their first two performances at the Northeast Fair in Pittston, Pennsylvania, and When Breathing Stops for the rest of 2004. They decided on their current name on New Year’s Day of 2005. Poison the WellSlipknotMarilyn MansonJohnny CashDepeche Mode, and other musical groups have been cited by Chris Motionless and other members as sources of influence. They published their self-distributed demo in 2005.

Josh Balz joined the band a year after their demo was released, Frank Polumbo took over on bass, Michael Costanza and Thomas “TJ” Bell joined as guitarists, and Chris Motionless was reduced to lead vocals. Zach Neil found the band while they were playing at The Staircase, a local nightclub. Neil recruited the band to his record label Masquerade Recordings after initially signing them to management. In 2007, Masquerade Recordings/Warner Music Group released their debut EP, “The Whorror”, which was produced by Zach Neil and mixed by Dan Malsch.
