English singer Morrissey has cancelled his concert in Mexico and all remaining dates in South America after contracting dengue fever in Mexico City. The former vocalist of The Smiths was scheduled to play on September 10 at Palacio de Los Deportes in Mexico City. After that show, he was going to perform in Perú, Colombia, Chile, Argentina and Brazil.
The British artist’s management released an official statement on the musician’s website, morrisseycentral.com, which reads as follows:
“Morrissey’s arrival in Mexico City has resulted in a dengue infection. The virus will take 2-3 weeks to clear. The tour is set to resume in Florida. Morrissey has not ‘cancelled’ any shows, but the infection makes the immediate two weeks impossible.“
At the moment, the Mexico concert has been rescheduled for October 31, so the South American dates could be moved to November. Morrissey is currently touring the world celebrating 40 years as a solo artist.
