Candelabrum Metal Festival progresses in the race to announce one band after another until the full program is revealed before the festival weekend (12 and 13 September 2026). Known as an event that features obscure acts rarely seen in a typical lineup, Candelabrum just added a gem: the Icelandic dark metal band Misþyrming (Misthyrming). This will be their first time performing in Mexico.
Although a relatively new name in the black metal scene, Misþyrming are gaining international recognition for blending black metal intensity with ethereal, atmospheric soundscapes. The result is a sonic journey into gloomy landscapes that evoke Iceland’s fiery and icy terrain.

Misþyrming (“mistreatment” in Icelandic) have primarily performed at extreme metal festivals across Europe. They have released three studio albums over their thirteen-year career, all sung in Icelandic and featuring some of the most intense growls you’ll hear. In addition to promoting their own music, the band has participated in various projects. This includes collaborating with singer Nergal to perform Behemoth’s debut album, “Sventevith” (Storming Near the Baltic) from 1995, at Hellsinki Metal Festival this year, along with appearances at other festivals throughout the summer. As such, Misþyrming celebrates their ghostly sound and black metal’s sinister legacy within heavy metal.
Overall, Misþyrming commands a majestic presence on any stage they play, making us eager to experience their powerful performances at both the Candelabrum Metal Festival and their special set at Hellsinki Metal Festival. Summer 2026 will definitely be the Icelandic black metal summer.
