Metallica share official ‘Fade to Black’ footage from third Sphere residency show

Metallica have released professionally filmed footage of their performance of “Fade to Black” from the band’s third Life Burns Faster residency show at Sphere in Las Vegas.

The performance took place on October 8, 2026. Although fan recordings of the song circulated shortly after the concert, the newly shared clip offers an official look at Metallica’s presentation inside the venue’s immersive visual environment.

Originally released on 1984’s Ride the Lightning, “Fade to Black” remains one of the group’s most enduring songs. Its appearance during the third Sphere concert marked the track’s first outing at the venue.

The band’s residency follows its established “No Repeat Weekend” format. Each paired concert features a different setlist, giving fans attending both nights a broader selection of the catalogue. The Life Burns Faster series is scheduled to continue through March 13, 2027.
