As a co-founder of the drum manufacturing company Q Drum Co., Ilan Rubin (Foo Fighters, formerly of Nine Inch Nails) has been named in a new cross-complaint, as per theprp. According to Radaronline.com, a legal dispute over the company’s operations has been going on since December 2024. When Jeremy Berman, the company’s co-founder, died in January 2023 from stage 4 stomach cancer, tensions increased. At that point, problems started with Berman’s girlfriend Brandi Booth, who was given a 51% stake in the drum manufacturer and identified as the executor and sole beneficiary of Berman’s inheritance. Rubin and his business partners sued Booth in 2024, claiming unfair competition, fraud, conversion, and other offences.
According to reports, Rubin and the firm claimed that Booth had dissolved the old business and created a new one using the Q Drum brand. Rubin’s was partially requesting that the previous business be reinstated. Booth has filed a new cross-complaint accusing Rubin and the corporation of fraud, unjust enrichment, violation of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, and civil conspiracy. According to Radar, Booth alleges that Rubin failed to acknowledge her authority within the company, improperly assumed control of a number of assets, falsified financial records and sold company property without providing accounting, obtained Q Drum trademark registrations without her knowledge, falsified tax returns, and more. She further asserted that Rubin and his partner Roger Ko unlawfully took over custody of money raised for Berman through GoFundMe. Visit Radaronline.com to read more.
The San Bernardino, California Superior Court is still considering both complaints in this lawsuit. In a since-retracted statement from July 2023, Rubin asserted that Berman’s parents had helped him support the company’s business operations following Berman’s death.
