Today, October 17, Kid Rock‘s new Christian album, “Halfway 2 Jesus,” was released. Rapper Eminem is the most prominent guest in that endeavour. Although Rock and Eminem have a lengthy history of friendship, cameos, and controversial verses together, their ideologies have diverged. While Eminem has openly criticised the current president, Rock is a well-known supporter and friend of US President Donald J. Trump.
Eminem decided at the last minute to make a cameo on “Heal My Faith” instead of the song “7 Sins,” which was originally announced for this endeavour. Rock first asked Eminem to collaborate on the song. Due to Eminem‘s decision, Rock had to quickly find a substitute for “7 Sins,” and Lil Wayne ultimately took his place. Chuck D, the well-known member of Public Enemy, was also asked for the position but declined.
Not about choosing sides, just choosing to make music with my old friend. Praying for all of us – Eminem
Kid Rock is an American rapper, songwriter, singer, and musician. After making a name for himself in the Detroit hip-hop culture, he used a rap rock sound to gain widespread recognition before switching to a country rock performance style. He is a self-taught musician who has produced all but two of his albums and can play every instrument in his backup band. Rapper Kid Rock began his career by releasing his debut album, “Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast” (1990), on Jive Records.
He developed a more distinctive sound with his later independent releases, “The Polyfuze Method” (1993) and “Early Mornin’ Stoned Pimp” (1996), which culminated in his breakout album, “Devil Without a Cause” (1998), which sold 14 million copies. Hip-hop, country, and rock elements were blended in this album and its follow-up, “Cocky” (2001). “Cowboy” (1999), his most popular track from that era, is regarded as a groundbreaking song in the country rap genre. “Picture” (2002) and “All Summer Long” (2008) are his best-selling singles overall.
He moved away from his rap rock sound and toward country rock with his self-titled album from 2003 and “Rock n Roll Jesus” from 2007. “Born Free” (2010), “Rebel Soul” (2012), “First Kiss” (2015), and “Sweet Southern Sugar” (2017) are his subsequent releases. His album “Bad Reputation” (2022), features a return to his rap rock sound. Kid Rock, a self-described libertarian, has come under fire for his political remarks and previous use of the Confederate flag.
