Kid Rock, a conservative rap rock/country singer, has announced his rumoured new faith-based album, “Halfway 2 Jesus”, as per theprp. The first biblically inspired tune, “James 1:17,” has just been released online below, with Rock dedicated the video to Jimmie Bones of The Twisted Brown Tucker Band. The latter acts as Rock‘s backing band, with Bones now battling ALS. Rock also dedicated the film to Kalvin Lynch, who has an incurable brain tumour. His Make-A-Wish was to play drums alongside Kid Rock. While Rock‘s early lyrical content was centred on drunkenness and swagger, interrupted by morally problematic passages, his most recent album appears to promote Christian ideas and values. Eminem, another singer noted for his outspoken lyrics, appears on the featured tune, “7 Sins“.

Kid Rock launched his professional music career in the late 1980s as a member of the hip-hop outfit Beast Crew. Connecting with D-Nice during this early period helped him secure local opening slots for Boogie Down Productions. It was around this time that he established a working relationship with producer Mike E. Clark, who, despite initial skepticism regarding his race, was won over by the artist’s energetic live performance and technical turntable skills.

In 1988, Clark produced a series of demo tracks with Kid Rock that sparked a major label bidding war, drawing interest from six different companies, including Atlantic and CBS Records. By the following year, he acquired a shareholder position in Top Dog Records, an independent label created by Alvin Williams and Earl Blunt, which eventually developed into a 25% ownership stake. Leveraging his connection with D-Nice, Kid Rock signed with Jive Records at age 17, paving the way for the release of his 1990 debut studio album, “Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast”.
