In an interview with Scott Penfold of Loaded Radio, Type O Negative guitarist Kenny Hickey discussed the status of an upcoming full-length live recording from the band, which is no longer active, as per Blabbermouth.
‘m almost done editing everything, getting everything compiled together and simplified. And right now we’re going to give it to… Well, it looks like we’re going to give it to Mike Marciano, who was the original mixer for Type O Negative all those years. So, he’s got a studio he built in his house in Pennsylvania. We sent him ‘Love You To Death’. He mixed it. It sounded great. So, we’re gonna be moving forward with that. But I’m gonna give him all the stuff all ready to mix, you know what I mean? I can’t give him a mess. So that’s just about done anyhow. And so hopefully we’re looking at first quarter next year [for it to be released]. Because you can’t just release it when it’s done, obviously. You need three months [to set it up properly]… You gotta put in for the vinyl. We’re making the vinyl. That stuff, it takes months.
He also mentioned plans to release a previously unreleased track from the songwriting sessions of Type O Negative’s fourth studio album, “October Rust” (1996). This track was sourced from a cassette recently recovered by drummer Johnny Kelly.
‘Prometheus’, I think it was called. It’s something ‘Prometheus’. Yeah, I think it’s just ‘Prometheus’. I have it in my phone. I love it. And I don’t remember it at all. [Laughs] It was a long time ago. I remember some of the parts, but it’s really cool. Yeah, of course we’re gonna release it at some point, in some format, in one of whatever reissues we do.
When asked whether “Prometheus” was among the band’s major works or more akin to shorter pieces like “I Don’t Wanna Be Me,” Kenny provided his perspective.
Mm, it’s kind of a medium opus. But it was in the works, so all of [Peter’s] stuff would start medium and then just grow. I’m sure if it ended up being on the record, it probably would’ve been a lot longer, a lot bigger.
