Tonight, the Swedish dark metal band Katatonia will play the first of two shows in China before heading to Japan, followed by a tour of Australia and New Zealand in October 2026. As the band has now announced, Nico Elgstrand, one of their guitarists, will be absent from the China and Japan shows:
“Unfortunately, due to time sensitive visa issues, Nico hasn’t been able to join us in China and Japan, but he will reconnect with the band in time for the shows in New Zealand and Australia. Here’s a message from the man himself: ‘Not happy that I didn’t make it over to China and Japan this time but hoping to see u next time and then we will be happy!'”

As early as February 2026, Nico Elgstrand was unable to join Katatonia for their North American tour “due to visa complications“. At that time, he was replaced by Henrik Palm, known for his involvement with the Swedish rock heavyweights Ghost, as well as with In Solitude and other projects, and for his solo work.
