Kaaos Festival, taking place in Vaasa, Finland on July 30–31, 2027, has announced four more acts: Swedish metal heavyweights Soilwork and Smash Into Pieces, alongside Finnish artists Lillmåns and Numento. With these additions, 13 of the festival’s planned 20 acts have now been revealed.
Led by vocalist Björn “Speed” Strid, Sweden’s Soilwork has been one of melodic death metal’s most recognizable names for over three decades. Combining crushing riffs with memorable melodies and a modern metal sound, the band has released acclaimed albums including “Stabbing the Drama“, “The Living Infinite” and “Övergivenheten“.
Fellow Swedish act Smash Into Pieces blends modern rock and metal with electronic elements and huge choruses. Known for tracks such as “Six Feet Under” and “Heroes Are Calling“, the band has also built a reputation for visually striking performances featuring its mysterious drummer, APOC.
Mathias “Vreth” Lillmåns, known for his work with Finntroll and …And Oceans, will bring his solo project Lillmåns to Kaaos Festival for a rare festival performance. The project explores a collision of black and doom metal, industrial-flavored electronics and 1990s breakbeat influences. The recent single “Inherit the Morning Sun” previews a debut solo album planned for early 2027.
Finnish progressive melodic death metal band Numento combines heavy guitar work, varied vocals and the distinctive sound of the kantele. Its recent single “Folie à Deux” draws on twisted romance and true-crime themes. The group has also attracted international attention through live appearances and its success at Wacken Metal Battle.
Previously confirmed performers include Tarja Turunen, Old Man’s Child, Marko Hietala, Blaze Bayley, Scar Symmetry, The Unguided, Fimbul Winter, Black Spikes and Zero Nine.
