Jonathan Cain and Neal Schon, bandmates in the American rock band Journey, recently had a disagreement which brought them to court.
In late July Jonathan Cain filed a lawsuit against his bandmate Neal Schon because he claimed Schon would spend the band’s money in an excessive way. Cain claimed Schon would be wasting up to 10.000$ a night out of the band’s American Express card while their still ongoing tour with Def Leppard and Steve Miller. Schon called these claims “absolute rubbish”.
On August 22nd Schon announced on social media that Cain and him agreed on hiring a third party, “someone impartial” to help settle these problems and any disputes that arose over their Freedom 2020 company, which basically manages the operations of the band.
Cain’s lawyer Kasey H. DeSantis recently spoke about Cain and Schon having trouble now agreeing on the third party of their company and he is blaming Schon.
“Mr. Schon is attempting to backtrack on his agreement for the Court to appoint a custodian to serve as a third, deadlock breaking director of Freedom 2020, Inc., and is now seeking to inappropriately limit the role of the custodian,” the documents claim. “This is inconsistent with Respondent’s counsel’s prior communications with the Court … explicitly agreeing to the appointment of a third, deadlock breaking director.”
Basically Cain claims that Schon is backtracking in court and seeking to inappropriately limit the role of the custodian, which goes against the former agreement of a third party for their company. Cain said the purpose of the lawsuit was to get a judge to appoint a third party to help settle disagreements.
