Swedish metalcore visionaries Imminence continue to unveil the world of their anticipated sixth studio album, “Axis Mundi”, due 2nd October via Sumerian Records, with the release of their powerful new single, ‘If Not Now, When’. Arriving alongside another stunning cinematic music video, the track expands the album’s ever-growing narrative while revealing yet another striking dimension of the band’s unmistakable sound.
Built around gritty guitars, haunting melodies, and a distinctly ’90s grunge-inspired atmosphere, ‘If Not Now, When’ showcases Imminence at their most dynamic. While moments of heaviness remain woven throughout, the song also leaves space for Eddie Berg’s signature violin to take centre stage, creating a powerful balance between raw aggression and aching vulnerability that has become the band’s hallmark.
The accompanying video continues the sweeping visual narrative first introduced in ‘The Sword That Never Bends‘, and expanded in ‘False Light‘. Set within a dark medieval fantasy, the story follows an immortal knight condemned to wander endlessly in search of the one thing forever beyond his reach: death. As each chapter unfolds, the world of Axis Mundi grows richer, blurring the line between myth, memory, and the human condition.
“Axis Mundi” sees Imminence continuing to blur the boundaries between metalcore, orchestral grandeur, atmospheric rock, and cinematic storytelling, with each release revealing a different facet of the album’s expansive sonic and visual world. Self-produced by the band alongside longtime collaborator Henrik Udd (Architects, Bring Me The Horizon, Dayseeker), with additional production from Drew Fulk (Knocked Loose, Twenty One Pilots, HEALTH), the record unfolds as a cohesive journey where crushing heaviness, haunting melody, and rich world-building collide in a way only IMMINENCE can deliver.
Following the album’s release, Imminence will return to North America for a headline tour this fall, joined by Dying Wish and Gaerea. Then, in early 2027, the band will head to the UK for their biggest ever headline shows to date, with support coming from metalcore legends August Burns Red and House Of Protection. Tickets are available now here.
Imminence also recently announced that they’ll be taking part in some exclusive Q&A and signing sessions in the UK this September. The unique events will provide fans with an opportunity to celebrate the release of Axis Mundi with the band before its release date. Find tickets and more information here.
