The American heavy metal band Ice Nine Kills is based in Boston, Massachusetts. Although the band’s music combines many different musical genres, it is best described as metalcore with a horror theme. Spencer Charnas and Jeremy Schwartz, who were buddies in high school, started Ice Nine in 2000 as a ska punk band before switching to a metalcore sound in 2010. As of right now, Charnas is the only founder member. “Last Chance to Make Amends”, “Safe Is Just a Shadow”, “The Predator Becomes the Prey”, “Every Trick in the Book”, which peaked at number 122 on the US Billboard 200; “The Silver Scream”, which peaked at number 29; and their most recent, The Silver Scream 2: Welcome to Horrorwood, which peaked at number 18, are the three EPs and six full-length studio albums that Ice Nine Kills has released.

In 2003, Spencer Charnas and Jeremy Schwartz signed drummer Grant Newsted, and in 2004, Hobie Boeschenstein replaced then-bassist Patrick Morse. “The Pop-Punk-Ska Years”, a demo they made in 2002, was eventually released in 2009. Shortly before their first independent album, “Last Chance to Make Amends”, was released on April 20, 2006, they changed their name to Ice Nine Kills.
