Vulvodynia recently started holding open auditions for a new vocalist, as per theprp. As of right now, the group has failed to identify a permanent member to fill that position. Duncan Bentley was kicked out of the band in 2023 following a violent incident with drummer Thomas Hughes. For a while, guitarist Lwandile Prusent led the group, but in October 2025, Zion Bittenbender joined, allowing Prusent to concentrate on his primary position on guitars. However, Bittenbender’s hiring was contentious since he was plagued almost immediately by accusations of sexual assault, misbehaviour, and other offences.
It wasn’t until this past March that the band formally severed ways with Bittenbender, even though he later resigned from the band with plans to deal with the accusations through the appropriate legal procedures. For his part, Bittenbender refuted the accusations and expressed his displeasure with the manner in which his dismissal from the group was carried out. So far, Vulvodynia‘s expectations for a new vocalist are somewhat generic, considering the amount of drama they have previously experienced. Using social media, the band invited fans to submit a rendition of a song from their most recent album, “Entabeni,” from 2024.
Rules: Record a vocal cover of your favourite song from Entabeni (preferably one take)
Post it on your socials and tag #vulvoauditions
Email your audition video to vulvoauditions@gmail.com
Auditions end on April 30th
