Heilung announces end of hiatus and details about their upcoming album

Experimental folk band Heilung have just revealed that their hiatus is coming to an end, and some plans for the future too.

Heilung is waking up.

After more than a year on hiatus, Heilung returns to Lava Studios in October 2026 to begin work on our fourth full-length studio album, expected in 2027.

We must depart from the present to Amplify History into the future.
Heilung means healing in German, untouched by modern politics, ideology, trends or automation.
Heilung lives in the imperfections between the perfect, in the grass and sometimes thorns beneath our bare feet, in laughter, tears, love and fear. Wherever you focus, there is a door that leads to healing. Heilung guards this door and welcomes you inside.

In the meantime, one more thing… ;)

Eight years ago, Heilung began an intense creative journey with Ninja Theory. Some of what we created found its way into Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II.

Much of it did not. Until now.

This year, the sounds and songs of our travels through Iceland, from underground ice caves and bursting volcanoes to the depths of our own minds, will finally be released in their raw entirety.

We call it SAGAS.

The band announced the hiatus back in August 2025, after touring extensively to promote their latest album “Drif”, released in 2022.

German tattoo artist Kai Uwe Faust, who specialises in Old Norse tattoos, and Danish producer Christopher Juul established Heilung in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 2014. They came to an agreement because Juul, who has run his own recording studio, Lava, in Copenhagen since 2003, appreciated Faust’s tattoo art. In return for helping Juul record some poems, Faust promised him some free tattoos. Heilung was then initiated.
