American metalcore veterans Hatebreed have completed a new recording of their influential 1996 EP “Under The Knife”, with frontman Jamey Jasta revealing that the band are considering releasing it alongside a documentary exploring their early history.
Speaking in a new interview with Kerrang!, Jasta confirmed that the re-recording is finished, although the group have yet to announce an official release date.
We’ve actually re-recorded ‘Under The Knife‘. We’ll probably figure out a release where maybe we include a documentary. I just went through storage rooms full of stuff and found a flyer for a show that was Fear,Murphy’s Law, Hatebreed, 25 Ta Life and One 4 One. Man, I would remember if we had opened for Fear! Wayne [Lozinak, Hatebreed guitarist] had to remind me, ‘No, Fear cancelled but we still played, it was at The Pipeline in New Jersey!’ There’s a lot of those stories and flyers where the memories are a blur and the players are gone. It would be nice to preserve some of it.
While the re-recorded EP awaits a release announcement, Hatebreed are preparing to launch their ninth studio album, “Fatal Paradox”, on November 6, 2026. The album will arrive through BLKIIBLK Records, the heavy music imprint of Frontiers Label Group, and was produced by longtime collaborator Chris “Zeuss” Harris.
It marks the band’s first full-length studio release since 2020’s “Weight Of The False Self”. With “Fatal Paradox” arriving this week and the completed “Under The Knife” re-recording still in the pipeline, Hatebreed are balancing new material with a renewed interest in documenting their roots. Further information about the EP’s release and any accompanying documentary is expected once the band finalizes its plans.
