Aussie hardcore band Speed have released their highly anticipated debut Album Only One Mode. The breakout 5 piece band from Sydney have always brought the biggest mosh to everywhere they go. There energy is electrifying from album to live shows. On Only One Mode Speed have produced a well rounded first album with influences from Hip-Hop and traditional Asian music. This proves to the world that they are the ones to watch in Hardcore.
As you hit play, natural atmospheric woodwind and strings surround your eardrums. Before flawless transition into gritty guitar and punchy drums on the opening track REAL LIFE LOVE. This dynamic continues during the whole album giving Only One Mode a continuous feel. Living up to the album title name with the mentality of go hard or go home.
Don’t worry you do get a moment of breath, well a little. These breakdown moments are mix of hip hop groove melodies to laid back woodwind to electronic dialogue. Speed songwriting is diverse creating a fresh tone which is heard in tracks such as KILL CAP and THE FIRST TEST.
A burst of energy shots straight through this album and makes you feel like you’re at a live show. Not to the mention the positive vibes that are also reflected. With lyrics that are quite upfront wholesome. For a hardcore band this is rare and a welcoming change. Let alone the vocals by Jem Siow are perfect where you can hear and feel passionate screamed lyrics. Welcoming new and current hardcore listeners.
Speed’s ONLY ONE MODE is a must listen for hardcore lovers. It’s not doubt these speed demons will be winning over hearts all over the globe with their sound.
