Vocalist Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit has disclosed that he is working on some ideas for a possible “gathering” for artists that are frequently left out of mainstream festivals and awards ceremonies, as per theprp. In response to a recent post on X by diamond-certified rapper Lil Wayne, the nu metal icon tipped his hand. The latter expressed gratitude to the supporters who do think highly of him while bemoaning his frequent rejection from events like Coachella and others.
It’s truly a humbling experience when events like Coachella & the Grammys come around & like clockwork,I’m uninvited & uninvolved. I appreciate my position or space I hold in ya heart & mind if so bc you’re the humbling experience that’s timeless & 4dat I thk u. Iaintshitwithoutu
And the Limp Bizkit frontman replied:
Let’s start our own experience gathering and our own acknowledgment event to welcome all of the uninvited – i’ve got a couple ideas i’ve been working on for quite some while now – happy to elaborate if ever interested – sending good vibes
Naturally, Durst’s post comes a few days after James “Munky” Shaffer, a guitarist for Korn, recently stated that he has been vocal about reviving “Family Values.” Nu metal musicians and well-known rap artists were ambitiously coupled throughout that late 1990s/early 2000s run to create some unforgettable performances.
Given that the “Ozzfest” touring festival was born out of a similar circumstance when “Lollapalooza” rejected Ozzy Osbourne, claiming he wasn’t “relevant” enough for the event, Durst’s possible intentions also have a lot of precedent. As a result, his wife and manager founded “Ozzfest,” which for a long time in the 1990s and early 2000s was one of the summertime must-see events for metalheads. Sharon intends to bring that festival back in 2027 after it has been absent for almost ten years. Limp Bizkit’s previous “Loserville” tours, which featured musicians like Corey Feldman, Riff Raff, and others who haven’t exactly been accepted by the mainstream in recent years, might practically be considered as Durst testing the waters for what might yet come, given his most recent remarks.
