Given that Limp Bizkit‘s 1998 cover of George Michael’s diamond-certified 80s smash song “Faith” gave them their big break, it’s hardly surprising that the nu metal legends have regularly acknowledged their influences, as per theprp. Covers and medleys of other artists’ songs have long been a feature of the group’s setlists, and their most recent stage performance kind of follows suit. The group’s current run has retro stage decorations that allow them to subtly yell out some of their favourite tunes through a collection of fake large cassette tapes. Fred Durst recently shared a memey picture of extraterrestrial conspiracy believer Bob Lazar on his Instagram feed, unintentionally revealing some of those albums that were being honoured.
These are a few of the records that are played more prominently on stage. It’s a varied crop that mostly originated in the 1980s and 1990s and encompasses many genres. There are genre-defining recordings from artists like Portishead and Jane’s Addiction, grunge and metal masterpieces from Nirvana and Metallica, and rap classics from artists like Wu-Tang Clan and Nas.
