The Dillinger Escape Plan are bringing their earliest recordings back into circulation. The band’s self-titled EP from 1997 has received a new remaster and is being reissued on a limited translucent-purple cassette, with a digital release also planned.

The remastered recording will reach streaming platforms on November 13, 2026. A limited number of physical copies are being offered at the group’s remaining North American shows celebrating “Calculating Infinity”, with further cassettes due to go on sale online on the same November date.

The EP predates the band’s 1999 full-length debut “Calculating Infinity”, the record that helped establish the group’s ferocious and technically intricate approach to heavy music. This release gives listeners a more accessible way to revisit the band’s formative material without tracking down an older physical pressing.

In the band’s announcement, The Dillinger Escape Plan described the EP as a recording that had long been difficult to hear through official channels. The cassette and digital editions feature the new 2026 remaster.

The Dillinger Escape Plan is an American metalcore ensemble originating from Morris Plains, New Jersey, established in 1997. Throughout a significant portion of their existence, the band’s lineup featured lead vocalist Greg Puciato, guitarist Ben Weinman, bassist Liam Wilson, and either Chris Pennie or Billy Rymer on drums.

The band’s distinctive sonic identity is characterized by the employment of dissonance, irregular time signatures, polyrhythms, and unconventional drumming patterns. However, subsequent albums integrated a greater emphasis on melody and drew influences from a diverse array of musical genres.

The group experienced numerous lineup modifications, with Weinman serving as the sole remaining founding member. Original vocalist Dimitri Minakakis contributed to their inaugural album, “Calculating Infinity” (1999), which has been acclaimed by critics as a seminal release within the realms of hardcore punk and heavy metal music.

This album has attained cult status, having sold in excess of 100,000 copies, thereby establishing the band as the highest-selling artist on the Relapse label during that period.
