Canadian deathcore act Despised Icon have unveiled their new single “The Apparition” alongside with a music video. The track is the third preview of their forthcoming seventh album, “Shadow Work”, set for release on October 31 through Nuclear Blast.
“The Apparition” continues on previous singles from the album “Over My Dead Body”, which features guest vocals by Matt Honeycutt of Kublai Khan TX and “Death of An Artist”.
It’s been six years since their last full-length album “Purgatory”, so “Shadow Work” marks a long-awaited return for the band. Because of this long gap, fans have been eager to hear how their sound has evolved. “The Apparition” leans into the signature ferocity, combining aggressive riffing and layered vocals that clearly showcase their unrelenting deathcore roots.
In addition to the new single, the band has also lined up a U.S. headlining tour in support of “Shadow Work”, featuring Sanguisugabogg, Defeated Sanity, and Corpse Pile. The tour kicks off on November 4 in Detroit and continues through multiple cities, giving fans across the country a chance to experience the new material live.
