Dark Tranquillity announce new album “Endtime Signals” – listen to the first single “The Last Imagination”

Author Benedetta Baldin - 7.3.2024

Gothenburg sound pioneers Dark Tranquillity are pleased to announce their new and thirteenth album “Endtime Signals,” due out on Century Media Records on August 16, 2024. Available today is the video visualizer for the first taken single “The Last Imagination,” created by former guitarist Niklas Sundin:

“Endtime Signals” not only marks the Swedish band’s 13th studio album, but also their 10th album on the Century Media Records record label.

The band’s comment:
Welcome to the world of Dark Tranquillity once again. It’s been a while since ‘Moment,’ and we’ve been through a lot to end up where we are today. But as the first single from the upcoming ‘Endtime Signals’ reveals, the feeling is one of pride, accomplishment and a bit of relief. ‘The Last Imagination’ shows one of the many facets of what we feel is our most diverse album to date.
Going back to what we fundamentally feel is the heart of Dark Tranquillity, with a partially revamped line-up, has been an amazing experience. It gave us the opportunity to reevaluate and see what we have built from a new and exciting perspective. This led to a very intense writing period in which we discovered new aspects of our music. Joakim Strandberg Nilson gave his best in terms of drumming and the same thing did on bass Christian Jansson.
Lyrically the album is about what we are becoming, what has really and fundamentally changed in us and how we find ways to deal with it. Lately, it has been difficult to find that spark of positivity, and there is a sense of pain that runs through the whole course of the album. Not only in the sense of sorrow for what we have lost on a personal level but also where our sacrifices have taken us. ‘The Last Imagination’ in particular takes this to its logical conclusion and talks about what we leave behind and how difficult it is for us to realize that our meaning may not be what we imagined.
This first song gives an indication if not a complete picture of what the album will be. This is us keeping our promise to ourselves and our ideas.

Before returning to Europe for the festival summer, DT are playing shows in Turkey, South America and Tunisia in April and May.
