Chino Moreno sends a message to overeager fans after signing spree

There are some people who ruin hobbies for everyone, even if maybe they do not intend to do so. Chino Moreno, the guitarist and singer for Deftones, has been known to engage with fans multiple times. But recently, when out in public taking some time off, his generosity was tested to the breaking point. A bunch of admirers approached the very influential alternative metal star in what appeared to be no accident. They each brought piles of vinyl to sign, some of which appeared to have been signed by other band members. Moreno was obviously alarmed by the prospect of being stopped by so many people, each carrying stacks of Deftones vinyl to sign, and he got visibly irritated after spending time signing more than a dozen albums.

Go ahead and tell your friends I’m not doing this shit no more. You guys go online in your little groups and shit, tell people I’m not signing shit no more. I signed these right now, but let them know I’m not signing anything.

It makes sense that Moreno didn’t like what seemed to be a planned attempt to have him hold an impromptu signing session while he was going about his business, especially because the specifics of his own schedule were unknown. Although it makes perfect sense that he would prefer not to be harassed later by more groups of fans who came up to him with copies of the records that day to sign, there is also the possibility that some of those people were resellers, or “fans,” looking to sell autographs online. He was only acknowledged for his time during the signing by one admirer who came up to him. Not a single person in the video requested a selfie or anything else.
