Belfast post-punk/electronic specialists Chalk are set to join Fontaines D.C. as main tour support for their European leg starting later this month, following the tour announcement last month.
Kicking off in Lisbon at the MEO Arena on 21st October, Chalk will support the group throughout Europe, culminating in a huge show at London’s O2 Arena on 27th November.
Speaking ahead of the tour announcement, Chalk stated: “We can’t wait to jump on the road with a band we’ve admired for a long time. It’s very exciting to be a part of their next chapter.”
Having released their critically acclaimed debut LP ‘Crystalpunk’ (#1 in UK Dance Album Chart) earlier this year – which featured in The Guardian and NME’s ‘Top Albums of 2026 So Far’ and saw them named in Rolling Stone UK’s ‘Future Of Music 2026’ – the duo are primed to showcase their record to even bigger audiences across the continent this autumn. This follows their biggest London headliner yet at Camden’s iconic Electric Ballroom this summer and a hometown support slot with IDLES.
Built on the musical history that shaped them: the punk scene of the ‘70s and ‘80s, and the rave culture of the ‘90s through to today, these subcultures undoubtedly influenced Chalk‘s first full-length effort and resonated far and wide upon its arrival earlier this year. A collision of punk and electronic music, ‘Crystalpunk’’s identity was established through punk gigs and on dancefloors; the cultural and political choices made in these rooms established the foundations for the duo’s generation to escape the bombs, bullets, and binaries of the past.
Partnering with NYC headquartered label ALTER Music for their debut record and spearheaded by award-winning musicians and filmmaker duo Ross Cullen and Benedict Goddard, Chalk have certainly experienced a meteoric rise in recent times. Ticking off several sold-out UK and European headline tour dates, the band have also made debut appearances at the likes of Glastonbury and Bilbao BBK and supported peers in Fontaines D.C. and Sprints. Continuing to captivate the press landscape (The Guardian, The Independent, The Standard, UNCUT, NME, DIY, Dork, The Line Of Best Fit, Rolling Stone UK, So Young, Clash, The New Cue, Wonderland, Rough Trade, Consequence of Sound, Paste), in addition to widespread support across the BBC Radio 1 (Jack Saunders, Sian Eleri, Alyx Holcombe, Sian Eleri) and BBC 6 Music (Huw Stephens (Maida Vale live session), Steve Lamacq, Nick Grimshaw, Lauren Laverne, Deb Grant, Nathan Shepherd, Emily Pilbeam) airwaves, the band’s growing and rabid fanbase is accelerating at an enormous rate, ahead of what promises to be a significantly busy autumn period.
