Belfast post-punk and electronic duo CHALK announce double single ‘Heaven/Hell’ (video HERE), set for release on October 20 via ALTER Music, as they prepare to take their explosive live show to arenas across the UK and Europe as main support for Fontaines D.C., having been handpicked as the sole support act on their forthcoming arena run.
‘Heaven’ (featuring Sarah Barthel from acclaimed US duo Phantogram and Belfast producer cosign) and ‘Hell’ arrive following a breakout year for the band, whose debut album, “Crystalpunk”, propelled them onto an international stage. Released to widespread critical and commercial acclaim, the record received five-star reviews from NME and DORK, earned playlist support from BBC 6 Music and KEXP, and debuted at No. 1 on the UK Dance Albums Chart. The album was included in The Guardian and NME’s ‘Top Albums of 2026 So Far’ and Rolling Stone UK hailed them in their ‘Future Of Music 2026 issue. A clash of punk and dance, industrial and techno, “Crystlapunk” echoes the fractured beauty of the band’s hometown of Belfast and the arrival of a genre’s next defining band.
To accompany the release of ‘Heaven/Hell’, CHALK have launched an immersive, interactive microsite (here) that invites fans to choose between two opposing paths: Heaven or Hell. Each journey unfolds through a series of unconventional challenges, hidden content, exclusive audio and visual experiences that playfully explore the tension between following the rules and breaking them.
Detailing the accompanying visuals, director Benedict Goddard explained: “We’ve always wanted to make a double music video if we ever released an A/B-side, so this felt like the perfect opportunity. We were really drawn to the idea of fallen angels, exploring the contrast between heaven and hell, and the space somewhere in between. The video is presented as an old-school cinema double feature, complete with an intermission between the two tracks.”
Formed in 2022, the award-winning musicians and filmmaker duo Ross Cullen and Goddard have forged an identity at the intersection of Dublin’s guitar-band scene and the sweaty hardcore dancefloors of their native Belfast, building a reputation for ferocious live show.
The single lands as the duo prepare for one of their biggest live outings to date, joining Fontaines D.C. as main tour support on their extensive UK and European arena tour this autumn. The run includes landmark dates at Paris’ Accor Arena and London’s O2 Arena following a series of sold-out headline shows in the UK, Ireland, Europe and the US.
With growing support from across the alternative and electronic scenes, including co-signs from Kettama and FCUKERS, CHALK are carving out a space of their own. A collision of punk and electronic music, ‘Crystalpunk‘’s identity was established through punk gigs and on dancefloors; the cultural and political choices made in these rooms established the foundations for the duo’s generation to escape the bombs, bullets, and binaries of the past.
‘Heaven/Hell’ is out October 20 via ALTER Music and available on all digital platforms.
