The lineup brings together four established names in American alternative rock and metal for the early-2027 dates.
Benjamin Burnley initially formed a musical ensemble known as Breaking Benjamin in 1998, which predominantly performed softer genres, encompassing covers of artists such as Weezer and the Beatles. This original iteration of the band markedly differed from its later configurations.
The band name was derived from an incident where Burnley inadvertently damaged a borrowed microphone, leading its owner to exclaim, “Thanks to Benjamin for breaking my fucking mic.” The original lineup featured guitarist Aaron Fink, bassist Nick Hoover, and drummer Chris Lightcap, but the group disbanded when Burnley relocated to California.
Upon his return to Pennsylvania, Burnley collaborated with drummer Jeremy Hummel to establish a new band named Plan 9, which also included bassist Jason Davoli. The name Plan 9, referencing the film “Plan 9” from Outer Space, was frequently misidentified as “Planet 9.”
Consequently, the ensemble opted to reclaim the name Breaking Benjamin from the prior band, as Burnley retained promotional materials bearing that designation.
