Barenaked Ladies share life-affirming new song “Almost Ready”

“I’ve written every way there is to write” says Ed Robertson. “This song was written old school. One guy with an acoustic guitar, pencil and paper. I love it for that. It’s immediate and honest. It came out easily, cause it’s where I am.”

Produced by Barenaked Ladies (whose lineup also includes keyboardist Kevin Hearn, bassist Jim Creeggan, and drummer Tyler Stewart), the Ed Robertson-penned “Almost Ready” captures a bold determination to move forward even in moments of doubt and disappointment. The uptempo track surges forward with an irrepressible energy, unfolding in pogo-ready rhythms, shimmering synth tones, and radiant guitar work. On tour this summer, Barenaked Ladies will offer an exclusive limited-edition 7” vinyl featuring “Almost Ready” and the upcoming track “Careful (For Dee)” (due out via digital streaming platforms on July 31). “Almost Ready” marks Barenaked Ladies’ first new song drop since “In Flight – Carry On“— a 2025 EP featuring acoustic renditions of seven standouts from their acclaimed album “In Flight.” Released in 2023, “In Flight” is the band’s eighteenth studio album in a career stacked with milestones including winning eight JUNO Awards, earning two GRAMMY nominations, being inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, and cementing their legacy with generational hits like the iconic No. 1 smash “One Week,” Top 20 singles “Pinch Me” and “If I Had $1,000,000,” cult favorite “Brian Wilson,” and the pop-culture-dominating “Big Bang Theory Theme.” 

Barenaked Ladies will kick off their summer tour with Train and Matt Nathanson on July 8 in West Palm Beach, FL. Wrapping up on August 30 in Auburn, WA, The Drops of Jupiter: 25 Years in The Atmosphere Tour includes stops in major cities like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Nashville, Dallas, and Toronto, where Barenaked Ladies will co-headline with Train at RBC Amphitheatre on August 4. In addition, tour highlights include Colorado’s historic Red Rocks Amphitheatre on August 17. Just in time for the holiday season, Barenaked Ladies will take their feel-good show across the pond for Yuletide Ride — their first UK tour dates since 2023.
