Argentinean-born metal outfit Crown has shared a new LP entitled “Cosmic Entity”. The LP was recorded in Rosario alongside sound engineer Cristian D’Alessandro and session drummer Bruno Rositto (Rara, Deconstructed). Listen to the album’s title single below.

“Cosmic Entity” features ten songs that navigate between rock, progressive metal and grunge, with influences ranging from Alice In Chains and Opeth to Metallica, Mastodon, Porcupine Tree, Gotemburg-born melodic death metal and more. A refined opus, exuding fury, abrasive guitar riffs, electrifying drum beats, expansive vocals and a perfect contrast between melodic and aggressive.

Commenting on the album, vocalist and guitarist Claudio Lorenzón says: “Cosmic Entity has older and newer songs and is related to the birth of my son, but I see it as something more metaphorical, like a cosmic entity coming from another planet to this one. Then the other songs are about other topics. ‘Slasher’ is a reference to ‘Halloween’, the John Carpenter film starring Mike Myers; ‘Singularity’ describes man’s presence in space. On the other hand, “Half Elder Witch” is a piece linked to video games and ‘Through The Pain’ is a song about love and pain“.

Regarding the LP’s sound and the idea behind it, Lorenzon adds: “When we got together with Cristian D’Alessandro, who did the mixing and the mastering, we were trying to find the sound of Mastodon’s Once More “Round the Sun” album, that raw modern sound that defines the band. This was the direction to take from the very beginning“.

Crown was conceived at the end of 2012 in Rosario, Argentina. Their members, coming from other, more extreme styles, decided to slow down and try something new and powerful. So they started trying out new sounds and structures, without leaving their old-school influences behind.

In 2013 they began to play some shows in the city of Rosario, but it wasn’t until 2015 that, after some line-up changes, they finally consolidated themselves as a band, giving a series of shows with a good impact on the audience. This led them to record and release their first material in 2016, thanks to the suggestion of Cristian D’Alessandro. It was an EP of 3 songs, of which they released a video of the track “Human” in 2017.

In 2019, the band decided to go into pre-production and later the recording of what would be their first full-length album, leaving the live scene a little aside. It was at this point that two of the members decided to leave the band. After that, Claudio Lorenzon (vocals & guitar) and Esteban Toci (guitar & backing vocals) decided to finish the album and then look for replacements.

The LP took much longer than planned and wasn’t finished until the end of 2023. Before 2022 they started looking for musicians to complete the band to start presenting the album live. As a result, Emmanuel Fiocca (drums) and Francisco Novak (bass) joined Claudio and Esteban to complete the band.

To date, Crown has released an EP, two singles, two videos and a full-length album, “Cosmic Entity”.
