Godflesh release opening track “Master and Slave” from penultimate album

Birmingham industrial metal duo Godflesh share “Master and Slave,” the opening track from their album “Decay” and the second preview to surface after August’s lead single “Living/Ending.” “Decay” will be released on September 25 through Relapse Records, marking their 10th studio album.

Guitarist and vocalist Justin K. Broadrick and bassist Ben Green built the record from the same sessions that produced 2023’s “Purge.” According to a press release, the pair originally planned to issue these six songs within a year of that album, but label issues delayed them. Broadrick described the material as one large pool of songs, from which he later separated the tracks that became “Decay.”

Broadrick also confirmed that Godflesh is winding down. He revealed earlier in 2026 that hernia surgery ended his ability to scream the way the band’s music demands. Fortunately, he recorded the vocals before the operation, so “Decay” stands complete. He plans to continue with his other projects, Jesu and JK Flesh.
