Angry Anderson of Rose Tattoo has passed away

Gary “Angry” Anderson, the iconic frontman of Australian hard rock legends Rose Tattoo, has passed away at the age of 79, as per Blabbermouth. His death comes several weeks after he suffered a heart attack while on tour in Europe during the band’s farewell run. Although Anderson returned home to Australia to receive medical treatment following the cardiac arrest, he was ultimately unable to recover. On behalf of the Chaoszine team, our deepest sympathies to Anderson’s family, friends and loved ones.

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Gary “Angry” Anderson on the eve of Monday 21 September 2026, surrounded by his loved ones here in Australia. 
Angry was a devoted father, and much-loved member of his friends, bandmates and the wider music and entertainment community. His loss will be deeply felt by all those who knew and loved him both here in Australia and overseas. 
The family and band members are asking for privacy at this difficult time and will not be giving interviews. We kindly ask that their wishes are respected as they come to terms with this devastating loss and take time they need to grieve.

Numerous musicians have been influenced by Rose Tattoo’s music, and songs like “Bad Boy For Love,” “Rock ‘N’ Roll Outlaw,” “Nice Boys,” and “We Can’t Be Beaten” continue to be mainstays of Australian rock culture. Rose Tattoo has hardly deviated from its motto of being the greatest barroom blues-based rock band in the world since the band’s debut performance on New Year’s Day in 1976. Anderson’s voice has been a constant throughout the past fifty years, narrating tales of bars, alcohol, fights, and mostly lost love. Fans have been amassed by Rose Tattoo’s constant touring throughout Australia, Europe, and even the United States, even though a bit less frequently.
