As I’ve said (probably too many times), the first album is the challenge, the second is the proof, and the third is the consecration. Bloodywood are certainly ready to be named among the greatest ones with their new record, “Nu Delhi”, to be released on March 21st.
India doesn’t seem anymore a distant land, and Indian folk metal is so accessible: that’s the power that Bloodywood has proven once again with their art. The production is pristine, the mixing is quite balanced, and the mastering was carefully done: quality over quantity, and that’s exactly how I like it. They’re able to create sophisticated atmospheres without forgetting important themes like history or self-validation.
These songs though cannot only stay on a record player: they need to be played live many times to be able to appreciate their force, their engagement and their potential. I’m pretty sure I won’t be able to find anyone that can stay still during “Dhadak“. I’m willing to bet on this! The seductive rhythms that this band is offering are so genuine, so primal, that the human instinct is instantly attracted to them.
But don’t think for a second that just because they have sweet rhythms, this music is not full of metal! On the contrary, you’ll find that all the tracks have a mandatory heavy section that will not leave listeners without experiencing their full mayhem. Even though they have only one guitar, Karan Katiyar knows his craft and doesn’t leave riffs to chance. The only fault (if so we can call it) that I’ve found is that all the songs are very homogeneous, but that is just a matter of taste!
Bloodywood are surely going places, and we’re so lucky we live in the same historical time to witness it. So get ready, because a folk storm is about to take place when “Nu Delhi” drops. Will you join this folk band in leading the way, or will you follow someone else? Your choice.
