Amon Amarth have scored a string of chart successes with their latest album, “The Allfather Awakens”. The Swedish melodic death metal band reached the top of several national hard rock and metal charts, according to figures circulated by Metal Blade Records on October 28.
The record was listed at No. 1 on the hard rock charts in the United States, Canada and Sweden, as well as No. 1 on Germany’s rock/metal chart. It also placed second on the U.K. rock and metal albums chart, fifth on Switzerland’s overall Top 100 and second on Austria’s Top 40. The No. 1 results refer to specific genre charts rather than each country’s overall albums ranking.
Released through Metal Blade Records on October 2, 2026, “The Allfather Awakens” was recorded in two sessions at producer Jacob Hansen’s studio in Denmark. Rather than waiting until touring was over, the band developed material during the road cycle and returned to the studio to work on it in stages.
The album explores imagery drawn from Odin and Norse mythology, but is not presented as a traditional concept record. It also features the band’s first acoustic piece, “Upphaf”, alongside previously released tracks including “Gjallarhorn” and “Eight Legs of Thunder”.
