The singer of the masked industrial nu metal group Amerakin Overdose, Cody Perez, has criticized the percussionist, programmer, and other former members of Mushroomhead, as per theprp. Rick “St1tch” Thomas in response to a post on the band’s most recent music video, “Time Bomb.” On a social media post announcing the video, Thomas responded with a laughing emoji, which prompted Perez to criticize him as follows. In 2015, Amerakin Overdose kicked off Mushroomhead‘s “The Devils Be Damned Tour,” which also included Mortiis, September Mourning, and Unsaid Fate.
When we did the Mushroomhead tour, this guy hated us so much he went as far as talk trash about us the whole tour and then went on an interview a fan tagged us to further talk shit about us. It’s funny he has some sort of beef against us for no reason other than we wear masks. This clown was the lackey for Skinny for many years. We must have made some sort of lasting impression on him if he still remembers us and he’s laughing at a post we got on a media site. Honestly, the puppet-like mask suits him perfectly. Fuck this guy!
Emerging from Portland, Oregon, Amerakin Overdose is a mask-wearing, genre-bending industrial/nu-metal force. The band, who are well-known for their tremendous vocal dynamics, groove-driven rhythms, crushing riffs, and visually immersive characters, unleash an unrelenting aural assault. Amerakin Overdose, which draws inspiration from bands like Korn, Slipknot, and Mudvayne, turns the chaos, corruption, and excess of contemporary civilization into a dramatic, powerful experience, with each member playing a persona distorted by conceit, avarice, and social degradation.
Since its founding, Amerakin Overdose has put out three full-length albums, made a name for themselves as a must-see group, and toured the country extensively. Heavyweights including Korn, Godsmack, Disturbed, Five Finger Death Punch, Chevelle, Shinedown, Lacuna Coil, Avatar, All That Remains, and Slaughter to Prevail have all shared stages with them. Major festivals like Rock Fest (Cadott, WI), Vans Warped Tour, The Gathering of the Juggalos, and Jamey Jasta’s Milwaukee Metalfest have all awarded the band spots.
Major media sites like Revolver, Alternative Press, Loudwire, Knotfest, and The PRP have covered their unique fusion of metal, industrial, and performance art, establishing them as a powerful force in contemporary heavy music. Amerakin Overdose‘s highly awaited third album, “Artificial Infection”, which expanded their sound into darker, more experimental area, was released in July 2024. Since then, the band has partnered with Jonny Santos (Spineshank/Silent Civilian) to produce a new album. Their daring, genre-bending version and music video for Christina Aguilera‘s “Genie in a Bottle” was released in March 2025. They then released the heartbreaking song “Point of No Return” in May and “Nothing (Without You)” with Jonny Santos in July.
