Adele convinced Spotify to remove automatic album shuffle – Shinedown’s Brent Smith praises the pop star

Pop star Adele recently released her highly anticipated comeback album “30”. Adele had asked Spotify to stop automatically and by default shuffling album content on the app’s albums page, as artists and bands have a reason to put songs in a certain order on their albums.

The streaming giant listened to the singer’s request, and from now on the albums page will no longer automatically shuffle the songs in the albums.

Brent Smith of rock band Shinedown is one of many who thank Adele for her request, which eventually led to a change in the way the streaming service works.

“If anyone understands the importance of what an album truly is, it is myself and all of the Shinedown family.
The fact that Adele was able to get Spotify to remove the shuffle button on album pages is massive.”, Smith writes and continues:

“Simply put, albums do tell a story whether they are conceptual, or not. They are a snapshot, ‘a window in time’ into the hearts, and minds of the artist. Now some opinions of this may be, what’s the big deal? and why does it matter? It matters because it gives value back to the music, and the artist. Ultimately it comes down to respect. So with that being said, we applaud you Adele and Spotify.”
