For their upcoming ninth studio album, Hatebreed gave a quick sneak peek at some of the new music they are working on, as per theprp. A sample of a song from that album can be seen in the video below. The commentary, which appears to be written by frontman Jamey Jasta, declares that the album has “all heaters, no cheaters.” In the meantime, Jasta offered more colourful commentary about the metalcore band’s upcoming full-length album in a recent interview with Mark Mailler. Given the legal dispute that arose following bassist Chris Beattie’s dismissal from the group in 2024, the band’s upcoming record will mark a significant shift. Beattie and Jasta have been recognised as the band’s two main songwriters in ongoing legal actions related to that lawsuit.
This is our most ignorant, heavy, caveman-esque record yet. We really just went back to basics, played on all our strengths. Every band goes, ‘Oh, this is our most melodic. We’re our most heavy.’ There’s no melody, so we won’t even bother with that. It’s definitely just more of the same, going back to the same well, which we just love and appreciate. And it was the most fun we’ve ever had doing a record.
This record will be mixed and mastered probably over the next two weeks, and we’ll have a date in the fall. If people wanna get their name in the thanks list, they got a couple more days to do that too. This is the first time we did everything totally independent, and then we’ll decide — we’re gonna decide on the label probably next week, because we did it totally independent. We had full creative control, which is amazing, for the first time ever. And, yeah, we’re really happy with that. – Jamey Jasta
Hatebreed will also headline the Summer Slaughter tour this year. Devourment, Incantation, Snuffed On Sight, Balmora, and Face Yourself are some other bands. Only the run’s last dates will see Incantation, which will take the place of Devourment at some performances.
