Within Temptation: The Invisible Force Documentary to premiere on May 6 – A journey into war-torn Ukraine

On May 6th, Within Temptation will release a new documentary that powerfully showcases resilience, determination, and the unifying strength of music in the darkest times. Titled “Within Temptation: The Invisible Force”, the film will be exclusively available on YouTube and offers a deeply personal and emotional look at the Dutch symphonic metal band during a pivotal moment—both in their career and in global affairs.

The documentary centers around band founders Sharon den Adel and Robert Westerholt, focusing on how their support for Ukraine evolved from distant solidarity into direct action—on stage and beyond. Determined to go beyond just words, Sharon traveled to Kyiv to meet fans and deliver a message of hope by performing with the Ukrainian GOSOrchestra and choir at the Atlas Festival, right in the midst of the war.

During this visit, Sharon connected with Ukrainian rock band BLIND8, who later joined Within Temptation on stage during the band’s major tour last year. The documentary also highlights the challenges faced by BLIND8 and the tour crew, especially with the looming threat of mandatory military service for Ukrainian artists. Sharon also collaborated on BLIND8’s track “Labyrinth”, released last year, which features a music video available for viewing.

The film explores how war impacts not just those living through it, but also how artists worldwide are rethinking their creative roles and moral responsibilities. It raises questions about the lengths a band can go to uphold their ideals—and what happens when music transforms into a form of activism.

Tied to the documentary, Within Temptation will release a new single, “Sing Like A Siren”, on May 16th. The track features Jerry Heil, who gained international recognition as Ukraine’s Eurovision contestant in Malmö last year.
