American rock band Starbenders was formed a decade ago and after two studio albums and a few EPs, the group, led by charismatic singer/guitarist Kimi Shelter, is ready for the next step with another dose of glam, punk and glitter. The Atlanta-born rockers will release their new album “Take Back the Night” on September 22 via Sumerian Records.
After the release of their previous album “Love Potions” in the unforgettable year 2020, the band didn’t have the chance to promote it the way they wanted, but as soon as the world returned to some kind of normality, they’ve been playing non-stop and releasing new tracks with great music videos for almost every song. This year the band did their first European tour, two US tours, festivals and will headline the UK in October. After all these months promoting Starbenders, Kimi, bassist Aaron Lecesne, drummer Emily Moon and guitarist Kriss Tokaji are ready to reach a new phase with the release of their third studio album at the end of September.
Between the busy schedule of shows and the release of the next album, Chaoszine spoke with Kimi in a video call about the band’s plans, the impact of the pandemic on her songwriting, the production of the new album, her influential role for a new generation of young fans and the special connection she has with Finnish rock.
