Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Wacken Open Air is treating its fans to a lovely bunch of bands full of further highlights for this year’s edition of the festival.
First of all, none other than Gene Simmons is taking the stage, obviously not with Kiss, but with his very own band. It consists of musicians who have played with Sebastian Bach, Vince Neil and Billy Idol among others. To further fuel the anticipation, Simmons reveals in an interview with The Bulhead, W:O:A’s own magazine, the first digital issue of which will be published soon: “The set will be much heavier than what Kiss played, and I’ll be playing songs that have never been released before. Solo songs from me.”
With US sludge icons Baroness and deathcore heroes Whitechapel fans of rough riffs will get their money’s worth. Wacken-tested comedian Bülent Ceylan will have the metalheads headbanging and laughing with his new NDH project, while Massive Wagons aim straight for the hips. Ex-Equilibrium singer Robse and the two Greek bands Persefone and Planet Of Zeus complete today’s bouquet of bands.
