Wacken Open Air 2023: No further motor vehicles allowed until the end of the festival

As we reported earlier today, the festival Wacken Open Air 2023, which officially starts tomorrow in the village of the same name in Northern Germany, asked those visitors who are not yet at the festival site to postpone their arrival. The reason for the request is extreme rain. Now, “all metalheads in all kinds of motor vehicles” are asked to stop their journey to Wacken or to not start their journey to Wacken in the first place:

The organisers of the world’s biggest open air heavy metal festival state that “safety and supply cannot be ensured” otherwise. Only vehicles that are already in the immediate vicinity of the festival grounds will be accommodated. Further information on how tickets will be handled will be announced “as soon as possible”:

“We are very sad to have to make this difficult decision – for the first time in W:O:A history.”
