Wacken Open Air 2023 asks visitors to postpone their arrival, due to extreme rain

The festival Wacken Open Air 2023, which officially starts tomorrow in the village of the same name in Northern Germany, asks those visitors who are not yet at the festival site to postpone their arrival. The reason for the request is extreme rain.

The camping grounds are currently impassable, and it may not be possible to use all of the planned camping areas later on either should the water remain on some meadows. The organisers of the world’s biggest open air heavy metal festival are therefore asking those fans who are already present to move their tents closer together.

Despite the difficulties, the preparations for the festival are proceeding as planned, according to the organisers of Wacken Open Air. Updates are regularly announced amongst others on the facebook page of Wacken Open Air. While visitors who have not yet started their journey are asked to postpone their arrival, those who are already on their way to Wacken are asked to stay at alternative places, e.g. in Hamburg (“Parkplatz Rot” at Volksparkstadion Hamburg, Hellgrundweg 45 B, 22525 Hamburg).
