American rock band Vixen has unveiled a new single called “Red”. You can watch the Drew Johnston and Vicente Cordero-directed video below.

Produced and written by Cinderella drummer Fred Coury and self-released, “Red” is the band’s first original material in 17 years.

“‘Red’ is a very dynamic and hard-driving rocker of a song,” Vixen drummer and founding member Roxy Petrucci says. “Modern yet embraces the amazing harmonies and catchy choruses that are signature to the classic Vixen style. It’s important to me that we honour [founding guitarist] Jan [Kuehnemund] and the band’s 35-year legacy by staying true to the Vixen sound while melding in fresh new ideas. I feel confident we nailed it with our new release ‘Red’!

Petrucci adds: “We actually worked on it with Fred Coury from Cinderella. He’s quite the songwriter and he’s a producer and he writes jingles for soundtracks and things like that. So we hooked up with him and he had the song and he presented it to us. And we said, ‘OK, let’s take that and let’s own it.’ And that’s what we did. And it came out killer. It’s a good representation of this new Vixen. So I think fans are gonna dig it. I mean, we certainly do. We owned it, we feel good about it and we’re gonna throw it out there and, yeah, see if it sticks.

After a busy summer of touring, Vixen will close out the year with a performance at the Life After Death Horror Fest in Mexico City on December 1, before gearing up for another busy year in 2024, kicking off with the Monsters of Rock Cruise from March 2-7, with more dates to be announced.
