Video footage available of Silent Planet performing in Ukraine

Over the weekend, Silent Planet became one of the few Western performers to perform live in Ukraine, as per theprp. The politically motivated progressive metalcore group first released their song “Wick” in July 2025 as part of a campaign to aid children in Ukraine affected by the ongoing Russian invasion. Since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, most worldwide touring artists have chosen not to perform there due to the obvious security threats associated with the ongoing conflict. However, Silent Planet announced that they wanted to “celebrate the spirit of resistance in the face of tyranny” when they booked two performances in Ukraine to wrap up their European/UK tour this month.
Yesterday, June 20, the Californian band performed for the first time in the nation at Atlas in Kyiv, the capital. Today, June 21, they will conclude their European tour with a last visit at theFESTrepublic in Ukraine’s Lviv. Below is some fan-shot video from yesterday’s historic performance, and the band themselves shared their own thoughts about the event on social media.
Tonight we played a show in Kyiv. It was a life-changing experience to play our songs, especially “Wick” among people who have lived through so much. After the show, I talked to as many folks as I could, and met a man named Михайло (Michael) who lost his leg in the war. His friends told me that he managed to get up from his wheelchair to catch some of the show (and ended up breaking his chair in the mosh pit lol).
Apparently we are the first American band to come here since Russia first invaded in Feb of 2022… but I promise you, this won’t be our last time visiting. Against all odds, these people continue to live and thrive in the face of war and despair – and we will never be the same after meeting them.
Whether sleep or sirens finds us tonight, know that this journey has grown our hearts and deepened our thoughts. This war will end and the Lovers will be victorious against the dread machine.
