On Tuesday, a new wrestler made her in-ring debut on WWE TV. She gave her all to her metal-inspired persona with a callout that Iron Maiden fans will undoubtedly recognise, as per Loudwire. Lizzy Rain, a wrestler, has joined WWE’s NXT roster and will make appearances on the company’s shows. On Tuesday’s broadcast of NXT’s weekly show, Rain made her WWE debut against Nikkita Lyons. Rain’s character is all about metal, from her appearance to her demeanour. A metal guitar riff was playing as the arena’s lights were lowered prior to Rain’s performance. At that point, she gave one of the most metal speeches to the audience.
Scream for me, NXT. Lizzy Rain is bringing heavy metal tonight and the world is about to find out that Lizzy Rain and heavy metal will never ever die!
Since Bruce Dickinson frequently uses the phrase “scream for me” during live performances, Iron Maiden fans who watch NXT probably focused on it. Rain’s decision to include Iron Maiden in her character was, of course, well-founded. Rain competed on the UK independent scene as Rayne Leverkusen prior to getting a contract with the WWE. She developed her metal-focused in-ring persona around that time. As the niece of the late Iron Maiden drummer Clive Burr, who played on the band’s first three albums and was a member from 1979 to 1982, Rain is also noteworthy. After fighting the affects of multiple sclerosis for a number of years, Burr passed away in 2013.
Burr participated in Iron Maiden‘s first three albums, “Iron Maiden” (1980), “Killers” (1981), and “The Number of the Beast” (1982). He was a member of the band from 1979 to 1982. He temporarily performed in bands like Alcatrazz, Gogmagog (the short-lived supergroup that included future Maiden guitarist Janick Gers and former Maiden frontman Paul Di’Anno), and Dee Snider’s post-Twisted Sister band Desperado after being fired from Iron Maiden.
Burr passed away in 2013 at the age of 57 after receiving a multiple sclerosis diagnosis in the 1990s. Rain claimed that her heavy metal wrestling persona was greatly influenced by her uncle’s music, despite the fact that they were not very close.
When I knew him, we didn’t really get to have these cool conversations about, ‘What was it like?’ All this sort of stuff. But me and my brother have always listened to Iron Maiden, Alice Cooper, Motley Crue, KISS, Guns N’ Roses. You name it, anyone, we’ve gone to see them live in concert. I think we’ve seen Alice Cooper about 16, 17 times.
