Ukrainian extreme metal unit 1914, known for their grim mix of blackened death, doom and sharp historical storytelling, have released a fierce new single titled “1918 pt 3: ADE (A duty to escape)”. The track lands ahead of their new album “Viribus Unitis”, which this Friday November 14 through Napalm Records. Preorders for the album can be placed here.

The song features a striking guest performance from Aaron Stainthorpe of High Parasite. His voice adds a cold and heavy tone to the tale, and it strengthens the tension as well. The band aimed to capture the mindset of a soldier preparing for a desperate escape, so they move between haunting melodies and tight, grinding riffs. These choices create a rise in intensity that builds through the track.

The single also connects to the wider arc of their upcoming album “Viribus Unitis”. The record looks at unity, survival and the mental scars left by conflict, and the song reflects these ideas through sharp shifts in pace and mood. Because of these changes, the track moves between bleak atmosphere and sudden aggression, and the contrast keeps listeners locked in.

With “1918 pt 3: ADE (A duty to escape)”, 1914 show once again why they stand out in modern extreme metal. Their blend of emotion, detail and raw energy lands with full force, and fans of dark and immersive heavy music have plenty to enjoy.
