Timeless yet very modern – review of “New Day” by John Corabi

Author Benedetta Baldin - 19.4.2026

There are some artists that will shape the heavy metal world. There are some artists that have already shaped that same world. I think that John Corabi is one of the few people that is confidently in both categories, as he is about to release his debut album “New Day” via Frontiers Music.

This talented gentleman doesn’t invent anything new per se, but he doesn’t need to. John Corabi has the voice that many people can only dream of having, and he’s not afraid of using it to his full potential. Don’t even get me started on the fabulous band that is playing on this record! Marti and Frederiksen, Richard Fortus, Paul Taylor and Charlie Starr… an all star production if there ever was one.

And I have to say that the mixing, mastering and production are very well done, giving equilibrium and balance to every instrument, just as I like it. Corabi‘s music is timeless, because if you had told me that this record was released in 1980, I would have totally believed you. Yet, the melodies and the songwriting are so fresh, that “New Day” is unmistakably current.

Rooted in experience and delivered with conviction, sometimes the most powerful statements come from simply staying true to who you are. The expressivity and depth of “Good To Be Back Here Again” make it one of the best tracks of this release, and certainly my favorite!

So if you’re looking for some classic rock and roll without anything superfluous, “New Day” is exactly the piece for you. John Corabi has put together a product that will definitely endure the challenges of time and age, because great music never goes out of style.
